Touch a Heart Tell the World

Touch a Heart Tell the World is the worldwide theme for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Below is a letter from Erna Johnson encouraging women to use their talents for the glory of God.

A Purpose For Every Woman

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us…” Romans 12:6 NIV

My dear Sisters in Christ,

I want to share with you what I believe is our main objective as Christian women.  God has given each one of us gifts and talents that He expects us to use for His glory. My prayer is that we all find out what those gifts and talents are and put them to use as of today!

Women’s Ministries at all levels of our church has had a goal over the last 5 years and which will continue for the next 5 years:  “Touch a heart and tell the world”.  Ellen White was adamant that everyone, women, men and even children had a role to play in sharing the Gospel with the world.  Here are a few of those quotes:

“Women who have the cause of God at heart can do a good work in the districts in which they reside. Christ speaks of women who helped Him in presenting the truth before others and Paul also speaks of women who laboured with him in the gospel. But how very limited is the work done by those who could do a large work if they would.” —Letter 31, 1894

“We may safely say that the distinctive duties of woman are more sacred, more holy, than those of man. Let woman realize the sacredness of her work and in the strength and fear of God take up her life mission. Let her educate her children for usefulness in this world and for a home in the better world.” —Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, p.77 (AH 231).

“The sisters can do much to reach the heart and make it tender. Wherever you are, my sisters, work in simplicity. If you are in a home where there are children, show an interest in them. Let them see that you love them. If one is sick, offer to give him treatment; help the careworn, anxious mother to relieve her suffering child.” —Review and Herald, Nov. 11, 1902

My challenge to all of you is to give control over your life to Jesus and let Him guide you as you use the gifts and talents He gave you, for His glory.  Touch a heart and tell the world my sisters!

In His service,

Erna Johnson
