Welcome to Women’s Ministries in the South Pacific. We invite you to take some time to learn what women ministries is about, how you can continue to grow as a woman in Christ and care for other women in your community.

We are going home!

I don’t know about you, but watching the news lately has been quite depressing.  Leaders are rising up with all sorts of ideas and plans which are horrifying to me.  People have been either overtly or subtly encouraged to look at another person as inferior to them and therefore not worthy of respect and these people have been abused verbally and physically.  Even in schools children have been taped screaming insults against other children who are not of the same ethnicity as they are.

This has made me long for a better place. A place where there’s peace.  Where there’s no war, no tears, no worries.  Where everyone is loving and loved.  Where Jesus walks amidst everyone.

« Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men who have no hope.  We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.  According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.  For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. » 1 Thes. 4:13-18

As a little girl I loved to listen to sermons and talks about the Second Coming.  It’s rare nowadays that a preacher talks about it.  I don’t know if it’s because we’ve become tired of waiting or if we’re afraid of hoping that He’ll come in our life time or what the reason is that we as Seventh-day Adventists don’t talk much about it anymore.  I often looked up to find Orion and imagined seeing Jesus coming in the clouds!

One of my favourite Bible texts is John 14:1-3.  I had to learn it for Pathfinders of course and could recite it for you in Icelandic and English.  But I’m not sure you’ve seen it in this format before:  "Don't let this throw you. You trust God, don't you? Trust me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father's home. If that weren't so, would I have told you that I'm on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I'm on my way to get your room ready, I'll come back and get you so you can live where I live. And you already know the road I'm taking."

“But let me tell you something wonderful, a mystery I'll probably never fully understand. We're not all going to die—but we are all going to be changed. You hear a blast to end all blasts from a trumpet, and in the time that you look up and blink your eyes—it's over. On signal from that trumpet from heaven, the dead will be up and out of their graves, beyond the reach of death, never to die again. At the same moment and in the same way, we'll all be changed. In the resurrection scheme of things, this has to happen: everything perishable taken off the shelves and replaced by the imperishable, this mortal replaced by the immortal.”  1 Corinthians 15:51-57 – The Message

This is a verse that ALL Seventh-day Adventists know by heart!  Maybe not in the version I’ve just shown you, but the verse “We shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye” that we know and love, right?  I remember hearing the Kings Herald sing this many years ago and I can still hear them in my mind as I write this.  What wonderful Good News.  May this hope of a Place of an everlasting Peace be with you always!
